The Hosts
Roy Cherry, the host of Pyro Play is the main driving force behind the show. He works from his bedroom-converted studio to set up interviews, buying equipment and doing basically all the tech work. Roy also does almost all the work on the web page.
Roy began working on RealAudio shows in December of 1998. Back then the idea was known as LSN Radio. Roy only recorded a few test shows before The Larasoft Network site was closed down.
Upon returning from England, Roy started work upon a new RealAudio show called Lara Croft Radio. The show was a success in the Tomb Raider community. But wasn't what Roy wanted in a RealAudio show. During the life of LCR Roy began to search out other RealAudio shows. Taking an idea from the PyroPimps to cover various games and not just one, Roy started work on Lara Croft Radio: v2. The new show was designed to give news from not only the Tomb Raider community, but also the Quake, FreeSpace, StarCraft and Descent communities as well.
The show never aired due to school cutting to Roy's life. A few months later, Roy started work on yet another RealAudio show called AuralGamer, which also never did air. Finally he teamed up with Joel Brown and started work on Let's Play. The show designed for the Quake and 3D shooter world.
Moving more into Descent, Pyro Play was formed (named after the main ship in the Descent games). The show continues to air to this day.
Joel Brown may not have much experience with gaming, but he knows what he likes, and Quake is one of them. Joel is still learning all the tricks of being on a RealAudio show, but is quickly improving on his technique. Joel's current role is more of a commentator then anything else.
The Show
So far the show seams to be successful. Some wonder how long it will continue. As time goes on we will see how much father Pyro Play with take Roy and Joel.
